Are mosquitoes biting you? Put in an online service request!

Monday, June 01, 2009 by Administrator

Hello to everyone!  We know the massive rains have caused an influx of mosquitoes which are becoming a nuissance.  I am thrilled that people are actively using the website; however, unfortunately several SJC residents have posted blog responses with no way to get in touch with them.

If you wish to file an online service request:  Please click on the following link /contact-us/service-calls.aspxCompletely fill in the request with all the pertinent information so that we can better serve you.

Our primary goal is to protect SJC residents from mosquito-borne diseases.

Mosquitoes extremely bad at Davis Shores
No.Standing water, now gone has left us
with a worse problem. Your map needs to be more detailed to show hot spot areas
by name.Dates and times for specific
    areas would be helpful

    Thank You

Wow.... I think I actually heard the swarm of mosquitos around my house laughing at me as I'm trying to get rid of them using foggers & sprays. The concentration of these new "Super Skeeters" in the Switzerland/Fruit Cove area in NW St Johns County is really unbelievable & apparently immune to the effects of store bought products. Your Website & map are great communicators, but contrary to the info given, no County air spraying was done here last evening. We need relief ASAP- Thanks

The mosquitoes are also swarming on Anastasia Island can you please spray on or near Mariposa Street in Coquina Gables. You get eaten alive letting the dogs out to do their business. The dogs are also getting attacked and the bugs follow us into the house. These mosquitoes are very agressive and hungry!!

I live in the Parkes division of Julington Creek on Grand Parke Dr, and we are getting attacked by these huge mosquitos every time we open our door or go outside. I hope this will be one of the "HOT" spots considered for spraying. We need the mosquito control ASAP. Thanks!!!!!!

YOUR HOTSPOT MAP WAS HARD TO DEFINE. I THINK YOU SHOULD SPRAY THE WHOLE POPULOUS COUNTY OF ST. JOHNS. WE ARE ALL HAVING TO DEAL WITH THESE HUGE SKEETERS. PLEASE SPRAY IN THE MEADOWS SUBDIDVISION NEAR WORLD GOLF VILLAGE. SUNDAY NIGHT I CAN REPORT THAT WHILE LOADING MY VEHICLE UP AT 10PM FOR 20 MINS. THE INSIDE OF MY GARAGE COLLECTED MORE THAN 300 MOSTLY ADULT MOSQUITOS. I NEARLY USED A WHOLE CAN OF ANT AND ROACH SPRAY TO KILL THEM ALL AFTER CLOSING THE GARAGE DOOR. NEVER HAVE I SEEN SO MANY AND SO BIG. I HAVE 10 BITES ON ME FROM THAT NIGHT. PLEASE SPRAY US NIGHTLY. THANKS.- DL

Is it possible to get the spraying schedule posted on the website? It would be so helpful to know what is coming up and what has been done. Also, the "hotspot" map that was posted needs a bit more detail. It' hard to tell where exactly the spraying is being done. Also, it just says "tonight". Is there a certain time that the helicopters will be going around? Additionally, any suggestions for what do to with the retention ponds? I know those are horrible breeding grounds right now too.

We live in the Durbin Crossing subdivision of Julington Creek Plantation. I've called yesterday morning and placed a service call. I called this afternoon and you were closed so I placed a service call online. We have never had a mosquito problem like this before. We've lived here since 1996. What happened to the spraying everynight? Please help this is very unhealthy. 904-287-2018.

Our runway and surrounding property are still covered in standing water from the recent rainfall and the mosquitoes are extremely bad right now. Store-bought products offer only limited relief. We have no way of draining the standing water other than waiting for it to drain/evaporate naturally (and what if it rains again before the water drains?). We submitted a service request this evening. Help would be GREATLY appreciated! Many thanks.

Haven't been able to use our front door the last several nights due to the swarming mosquitos. We keep the lights off to try not to attract the little buggers, but it doesn't help!!! We even sprayed CUTTER (from Lowe's) and nothing changed...PLEASE, PLEASE spray The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village.

  19. Sarah Schwarz Says:
We are Shores residents in the area of Graciela Circle, near the south entrance, and bordering the golf course.
We had LOTS of standing water during the rains, and with the ponds along the golf course, we have been getting multiple mosquito bites morning and night for the last 3 days. it is IMPOSSIBLE to be out of doors for any length of time without getting numerous bites!!
Please spray our area as soon as possible!
    Thank you,
    Ernst and Sarah Schwarz

I agree with "Penny Halyburton" St. Aug Shores used to be sprayed often, now it is a rarity that I even see a truck. Is it a financial issue? Staffing issue? I vote for mosquito control people, but rarely see that they do anything.

Like all the others asking for help
we too would like to know when we are
going to get sprayed. Even the poor

Mosquitoes are very bad in Moultrie Trace subdivision. This is absolutely the worse I have ever seen them! I would appreciate your assistance in spraying these horrible little creatures as soon as possible.

In priors years our neighborhood was sprayed on a regular basis, but no longer. Is this due to financial reasons or an administrative decision?

Thank you very much for your help.
  24. Graham Argott Says:
Please specify the date of "tonight" for the helicopter spraying, one of the "hot spots" should hit our area and I could stop trying to call the always busy phone number.

Also, Batram Plantation on corner of Greenbriar and SR 13 has mosquitos 1/2 inch long. My front porch walls have been literally covered in insects the last few nights so we need spraying badly.

    Thank you.

Please spray in Flagler Estates. The past two days I have been trying to mow the grass and the mosquitoes are so bad, I had to come in the house. I realize with all of the rain that we had they would be out. Since we moved to Flagler Estates seven years ago, I have only noticed the truck, maybe once or twice a year.

Please provide mosquito control service at our St. Augustine Little League Complex located at #1470 Osceola Elementary Road. We have 490 kids that play baseball and softball on a daily basis and about 1,000 additional proud parents and grandparents that come to watch them play. When we turn on the lights for the games during the weekday evenings, the mosquitos attack us. The mosquitos even attack us during the day without the lights on. I'm sure the recent rains have our entire community swarming with moquitos, but on behalf of the 1,500 local residents that patronize our Volunteer Organization, we are asking for your help in controlling the mosquitos.

    Thank you,

I (as well as my gated neighbors) would like to know your spraying schedule so I can leave my gate open. I am on Roscoe Blvd. and deluged with swarms of mosquitos. Do you have a recorded message giving an up-to-date schedule?

This information would be very helpful.

  45. kathleen minnis Says:
I agree that a schedule would help reduce the number of phone calls that frustrated residents are making to your office. We pay a separate tax for this and are at the mercy of a board with no contact information as well as office that are not staffed and have no answering machines. I called the main number repeatedly today with no results. The Northwest phone message refers you to the main number - as productive as a hamster in a cage!
