The Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (FMEL - UF/IFAS) has released a Mid-season EEE Transmission Analysis for Florida.
This analysis summarizes EEEV transmission in the northern half of Florida through June 30th, 2009.
It appears that EEEV transmission levels are slightly above normal for sites in northeast, north, and panhandle Florida.
The heavy EEEV transmission month (July) is still in front of us, and from the looks of the recent sentinel chicken data there definitely appear to be some transmission hot-spots.
The EEEV transmission risk will be high for the next four weeks, especially in north and northeast Florida and in the Florida panhandle where the recent sentinel chicken seroconversions have clustered.
