The 1st EEE horse has been confirmed in St. Augustine, St. Johns County on July 31, 2009. In Florida this year, this is the 54th horse testing positive for EEE. The EEE horse from St. Johns County did not receive the EEE vaccine so the Anastasia Mosquito Control District of St. Johns County highly suggests for all horse owners to stay up-to-date on all vaccines especially for EEE.

AMCD has enhanced monitoring/surveillance of EEE mosquitoe vectors and increased the treatment efforts at several EEE hot areas.
